The purpose of Pursuing the Dream Foundation is to provide avenue of hope through in-kind and monetary charitable contributions to second thought, underserved communities across America. The foundation is laser focused on empowering communities through our three pillars of pursuit: scholarship, wellness, and investment. The foundation is purposed to shine a much-needed light in areas of neglect and fight against the ever-impending threat of gentrification which erodes the history and culture of our communities, that were built from scraps by people strong people who preserved against all odds.
Through scholarship we endeavor to provide mentorship, tutorship and grants for students to continue their pursuit of success whether it be to community colleges, four-year universities or trade schools. We commit to paving a path to success to every young mind we can; we too will work to support working adults who have a desire to pursue higher education. Its never too late to acquire new skills and find greater success.
The foundations wellness initiatives are focused on the total person, physical and mental. Our commitment will be to focus resources for and be advocates of proactive and preventative steps to mental and physical health. The foundation will work to develop programs and partnerships to remove the stigmas attached to mental health issues. We will seek to provide forums and resources for those suffering in silence from depression, PTSD, anxiety and other mental health related issues. We will partner with certified physical fitness and nutrition professionals to assist in weightless and clean living. Our team will seek partnerships with medical professionals to connect communities to healthcare services and funding for it.
Many forgotten communities have been promised revitalization and redevelopment for years but still have been left out. As well when promises are kept to revitalize and redevelop, evictions follow after longtime residents have been priced out. With our investment initiatives we aim to drive development in underserved communities, providing resources that might ordinarily require community residents to travel great distances to obtain. It will also drive the need to provide startup capital to entrepreneurs and small businesses to help drive the creation of jobs with livable wages and sufficient benefits. We will work and partner with other nonprofits to provide resources such as disaster relief, job fairs, food pantries and other life sustaining resources.
As an organization we realize the urgency to close the gap of misunderstanding about communities of color and all underserved communities. It is our aim to bridge that gap of working with law enforcement, city leaderships, prosecutors and other government entities and representatives. The color of skin, our place of origin and our economic status should never be a determining the factor for or the likelihood of being perceived threat. We will strive at every opportunity to ensure that all citizens are treated equally, and the equity of rights and equal treatment is rightly divided among every citizen.
